Chapelle de l’Ecole la

Providence-Passy

52 Rue de la Pompe, 75116 Paris
The chapel was built in Romano-Byzantine style by the architects Morize, Lacal and Boutin on the first floor of a stone and brick building. These materials are concealed inside by a decoration of false joints. Two statues, The Sacred Heart and The Virgin of Sorrow, dominate the wide barrel-vaulted nave, pierced on the south side by penetrating windows; A large organ gallery surmounts the entrance. The chapel has retained its decoration of the 30s: a sandstone base is surmounted by scenes from the Gospels depicted on enamelled and painted metal, and arranged throughout the chapel. The stained glass windows were made by Charles Champigneulle, Gruber and Lorin. Source: Dictionnaire des églises de Paris, p. 132. Organiste François Olivier
